WHY OUR METHOD WORKS

FOR ADDICTIONS

ADDICTION IS NOT AN ILLNESS FOR WHICH THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE!

ALL ADDICTIONS ARE LEARNED AND HABITUAL PATTERNS OF THOUGHTS AND BEHAVIOURS WHICH NEED TO BE CHANGED, NOT CURED.

The vast majority of rehabs and treatment facilities subscribe to the view that addiction is an incurable illness. Most people who enter rehabs do not do so of their own volition. They do it to save a marriage

or a relationship, or because their families or friends have convinced them to go,

or to avoid jail sentences. Their chances of "recovery" are slim.

Addictive behaviour arises in a person due to one of, or a combination of, genetic propensity, lack of, or improper childhood nurturing, past or ongoing trauma or abuse,

peer pressure, geographical location or environmental circumstances.

Medical science is still unable to categorically define what addiction actually is and research is sparse, leaving the addict with very few choices of how to address their situation. Because addiction cannot be treated with medication, the medical profession and the pharmaceutical industry have put this serious problem aside and have as yet been able to offer any forms of new or advanced treatments.

REHABS CAN ONLY GIVE SOME INSIGHT TO AN ADDICT - AND BY AND LARGE

HAVE EXTREMELY LOW SUCCESS RATES FOR LONG TERM RECOVERY,

(i.e. MORE THAN 2 YEARS). WHEN RELAPSE OCCURS, THE CONDITION WORSENS. A REHAB IS NOTHING MORE THAN A STOP-GAP OR A DETOX CENTRE, ENABLING SOME PEOPLE TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF THEIR ADDICTION TEMPORARILY.

Addicts are people who, in simple terms, have an imbalance of chemicals in the brain.

Until now, the only “treatment” for addicts has been to go to a rehab centre for a period of time, usually between 3 weeks and 6 months, or to engage in therapy. Therapy relies to a great degree on empathy from the therapist, so unless the therapists are themselves addicts or abuse / trauma victims, they will not be able to fully empathise - and treatment will not be effective. In rehab centres, the programs centre mainly on group therapy sessions and written assignments, which give an addict some understanding of the seriousness and implications of their “condition”, but there is a significant lack of personal one on one interaction with a counselor and the individual is not given enough opportunity to privately discuss their own personal and individual circumstances, which lie at the root of their addiction problems.

12 step meetings such as NA or AA can help, but they are simply not enough.

IT IS NOW KNOWN, THROUGH THE STUDIES MADE IN THE FIELD OF EPIGENETICS (Link), THAT YOUR THOUGHTS CAN CHANGE YOUR DNA STRUCTURE. THAT IS TO SAY, BY CHANGING YOUR THOUGHTS YOU CAN ALTER THE CHEMICAL IMBALANCES IN YOUR BRAIN TO A LARGE ENOUGH DEGREE AS TO INHIBIT YOUR DESIRE TO USE MIND-ALTERING SUBSTANCES OR ENGAGE IN ADDICTIVE BEHAVIOUR. WITH REGARD TO TRAUMA OR ABUSE, WHILST YOU MAY NEVER BE ABLE TO FORGET YOUR PAST, THERE ARE WAYS TO LET GO OF THE FEELINGS OF SHAME, GUILT, ANGER AND SADNESS.

HOLDING ON TO, OR SUPPRESSING THESE TYPES OF EMOTIONS, WILL BE EXTREMELY

DAMAGING TO BOTH YOUR PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH.

IN OTHER WORDS, IT IS POSSIBLE TO "THINK YOURSELF WELL"!
